Andrew Wilson
Meet Andrew Wilson
Andrew Wilson is a trial and appellate lawyer who represents people, not powerful institutions. Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Redlands, California, he grew up excelling in the classroom and in Speech and Debate, earning awards that reflected a natural comfort with argument, organization, clear delivery, and foreshadowed a career in the courtroom. Since 2013, Andrew has devoted his practice to plaintiff-side civil litigation, standing up to insurance companies, corporations, and governmental entities to pursue accountability and just results for his clients.
A Client-First Advocate
Andrew Wilson represents people, not institutions, and he builds every case around the story of the individual who has been harmed. That foundation guides his work today across personal injury, employment, and civil rights matters. Andrew’s advocacy allows clients to stand on equal footing with insurers, corporations, and government actors. He sees litigation as a mechanism for accountability and safer communities, and he treats each file like the case that could set the tone for the next one. Preparation, careful issue framing, and steady communication are daily habits that clients can see and measure.
Background and Education
Andrew earned his undergraduate degree from Lewis and Clark College in 2007. He studied political science with a focus on Middle Eastern affairs, while also pursuing minors in physics and mathematics. The mix of social science and STEM sharpened both sides of his work: the human context behind a dispute and the structured reasoning needed to test ideas against the facts. Outside the classroom, Andrew competed in collegiate debate, where he learned to research, organize evidence, and argue both sides of a question with clarity. This blend of coursework and competitive experience deepened his interest in law and set the stage for the next step in his professional development.
Those years in Portland did more than shape his academic interests. They anchored Andrew in Oregon, where he has chosen to live and practice law. He discovered that the skills honed in debate translated naturally to client service: rapid research, precise language, and a relentless focus on what a decision-maker needs to hear. By the time he finished his undergraduate degree in 2007, he had aligned his studies, his debate experience, and his long-standing goal of litigation with the state in which he wanted to build his legal career.
Law School and Early Honors
Andrew graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2012. He finished in the top 10% of his class and was elected to the Order of the Coif, a recognition reserved for academic excellence. The classroom was only one part of his education. He was selected for competitive placements that exposed him to both the judiciary and the realities of public defense, including service with Judge Daniel Harris and work at the Lane County Public Defender’s Office. Those roles reinforced his commitment to due process, the justice system, and advocacy that meets people where they are.
Law school also changed Andrew’s life outside of work. He met his wife there, a fellow law student two years ahead of him. They married in 2013, and both built their practices in Southern Oregon. That shared professional life has given Andrew a grounded perspective on the demands of litigation, client communication, and the importance of community roots. It also reinforced his belief that a strong support system makes a better advocate and a more patient counselor.
Practice Focus and Philosophy
Andrew has been practicing law since January 2013. Almost immediately, he realized that his passion for law was to represent individuals and to fight for justice. He believes that fighting with insurance companies and corporations on behalf of his clients is fundamental to accountability and empowers our legal justice system. That belief guides his case selection and his day-to-day work on behalf of the people he serves.
Andrew specializes in civil litigation and focuses on all types of Plaintiff’s law, from Personal Injury to Employment to Civil Rights issues. His practice is built around those categories, and he maintains that focus as a matter of principle. Whether the subject is injury, workplace matters, or the protection of individual rights, his attention remains on representing individuals and pursuing justice under the law.
Appellate Experience and Professional Service
Andrew’s work is not limited to trial courts. He has argued multiple cases before the Oregon Court of Appeals and the Oregon Supreme Court. That experience matters in ways clients can feel. It changes how he drafts pleadings, how he preserves error, and how he sequences proof at depositions and in motion practice. An appellate lens makes trial work more disciplined and transparent, because every choice is made with the record in mind.
Professional service is part of that same discipline. Andrew participates in organizations that promote collegiality, mentorship, and high standards of practice. He is active in the Jackson County Bar Association, the Oregon Federal District Court Bar, the William V. Deatherage American Inns of Court, and the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. Through these groups, he exchanges ideas on emerging issues, contributes to programs that improve advocacy skills, and stays current on rules, statutes, and cases that shape the rights of injured workers, consumers, and citizens.
Approach to Client Service
Every case begins with listening. Andrew learns each client’s story, identifies the legal issues, and sets a plan that balances diligence with momentum. He investigates thoroughly, collaborates with experts when needed, and keeps clients informed at each step so there are no surprises. Because he has handled matters from intake through appeal, he builds records that are both persuasive to juries and durable on review. His guiding principles remain constant: preparation, clarity, and unwavering advocacy.
If you would like to speak with Andrew about a potential matter in personal injury, employment, or civil rights, he welcomes the conversation and the opportunity to help you understand your options under Oregon law.
Life Outside the Courtroom
Outside of work, Andrew likes to golf and play tennis. He also enjoys hiking and going wine tasting. Andrew also volunteers his time as an assistant speech and debate coach for a local high school. While it has been 20 years since he competed in the activity, he feel strongly that this activity helps shape students into intelligent, opinionated, and hardworking individuals and equips them with the skills to tackle what life will throw at them. It is one of Andrew’s greatest pleasures to see students discover themselves and develop well thought-out opinions.
These activities are part of how he spends his spare time and reflect interests he continues to pursue alongside his legal practice. He is an enthusiastic attendee of plays, musicals, and concerts. He reads books and travels with his wife. These interests round out the picture of his life beyond his legal work and are included exactly as you provided them.
