Art Stevens to be honored at the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association Convention in August 2010

Art Stevens is set to receive The Doug Swanson Workers’ Compensation Award, which is awarded by the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association at their annual Convention.

For two decades Stevens has tirelessly represented hundreds of injured and disabled Oregonians whose claims have been denied or improperly processed by a well-funded insurance industry. Born in Idaho, Stevens attended school in France before receiving his undergraduate degree from Whitman College in 1978. Following a stint as a teaching assistant at the University of Southern California, he received his law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School in 1984. Stevens started his legal career as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Oregon’s Insurance Fund (SAIF).

This experience led him to change hats and go into private practice representing injured workers who would otherwise find themselves shut out by the insurance system. He has also maintained a prolific Social Security Disability practice involving extensive agency and Federal Court work.
